He was born November 20, 1929 to the late John Walter and Alma (Keidel) Walter in Bay County and has resided here all of his life. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Amelith, retired from Dow Chemical Company Midland Division and was a farmer. He was an avid hunter , fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Houghton Lake.
He was survived by his wife of sixty years the former Lila A. Wegener whom he married on October 23, 1949 along with one daughter; Susie Wilking of Chebanse, IL, two sons and two daughters-in-law; Timothy and Teresa Walter of Millington and Rev. Jody and Bonnie Walter of Fredrick, WI, one grandson; Jamie Wilking of Chebanse, IL, two sisters; Harriet Rogers of Auburn and Doris Kundinger of Sebewaing, MI and his special dog Tinker.
He was predeceased by one daughter; Sandy Walter, two sons; Danny Walter and Mark Walter, one son-in-law; John Wilking and two grandchildren; Joshua and Jacob.
