R. R. Johnston, Printer, Dies


Robert Robinson Johnston, 78, retired printer of 94 Iowa St., Island, died in the Ohio Valley General hospital yesterday morning at 8 o'clock. He had been employed in the composing room of the old Register for 54 years and later came to The Intelligencer composing room where her worked until his retirement.

He fell early last November, fracturing his hip and complications followed.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs Mary Caroline Gray Johnston, six children, Robert G. of Parkersburg; John W., of Berea, O; Roy F., of Fort Jackson, S. C.; Mrs. Hayes Howard of Cameron, W. VA.; Mrs William Ducker of this city and George H. of the home; two sisters, Anna Marie Johnston of Martins Ferry and Mrs. Henry Phemester of Wheeling, and two brothers, Jesse H. of Martins Ferry and James H. of Wheeling.

The body is at the Bertschy Memorial mortuary where services will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. A. H. Maner. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
