Edgar Washington Ayers,. 71, of Newbern Road, Pulaski, died Thursday morning at his home.

Born in McDowell County, W.Va., June 30. 1910, he w as the son of the late Charles Thomas Ayers and Barbara Hubbard Ayers,

He was a retired power engineer with General Chemical Co., Pulaski; member of Pulaski Lodge No. 61 Independent Order, of Odd Fellows; Pulaski Enchampment Lodge, serving as past district deputy grand master, grand Encampment and grand lodge; past president of Pulaski Chapter of American Cancer Society; past president of the Bluefield Ostomy Association; founder and current president of the New River Valley Ostomy association; member of Retired Senior Citizens, and a member of the Pentecostal Church of God; Pulaski.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Lee Cress Ayers; one son, Charles Wesley Ayers, of Christiansburg; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister Mrs Cecil Moore of Pulaski; one brother. Robert Lee Ayers of Pulaski, and one half sister, Mrs. William Jones, Pulaski.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p. m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clifton Anderson and the Rev. Evangeline, West officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to the New River Valley Ostomy Association. Visiting will be today at Stevens Funeral Home from 7 to 9, p.m.
