J.S. Hall was born in Middle Tennessee, Coffee County, July 11, 1868, and came to Texas in 1869. He obeyed the Gospel under the preaching of Bro. J. N. Gibson. Brother Hall is content to be an humble preacher, striving to accomplish the good in his power. --Gospel Preachers Who Blazed the Trail by C. R. Nichol, p. 77.
Elder Hall was preaching a revival in Pecan Street Church of Christ, in Hamilton at the time he was "stricken." He was the preacher for this church. He was survived by his wife and these children:

Fannie Ann Hall
