Born Jan. 18, 1943 in Milroy, he was the son of the late Charles E. Gilbert and Marion (Griffith) Rager.
His wife, Beverly M. (Sunday) Gilbert whom he married Dec. 11, 1992, survives.
He is also survived by a son, Barry A. Gilbert, Groton, CT; two step-sons, Donald E. Lukens, Felton, DE and Brian S. Lukens, Lewistown, one step-daughter, Cynthia L. Powell, Lewistown, one grand child, nine step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, George Lukens, and a sister, Cheryl Kibe.
He was a supervisor at Lewistown Cabinet Factory and was a United States Army veteran of Vietnam.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milroy and the VFW.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Rev. Rosalie Smith officiating. There will be no viewing.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy, with a graveside military service conducted by VFW Post 7011. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the charity of one's choice.
