Charles was the son of Paul Alwin and Anna Hohmann. He married Sylvia Baker 10 Oct 1952.

Charles W. Alwin, 76, of 2944 Shorewood Drive, died Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Veterans Hospital, Toman.

,He was born in Oshkosh on July 31, 1899, and was married to Sylvia Baker on Oct. 10, 1952. Mr. Alwin formerly operated the Alwin Cleaners here. He served with the Navy during World War I.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Cook-Fuller Post 70 of American Legion.

Surviving are his widow; one brother, Francis H. Alwin, Waupun; and one sister, Mrs. Helen Boettcher, Oshkosh.

Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Fiss & Bills Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Rickert officiating. Burial will be in the soldiers' plot of Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m. Prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m., at which time Knights of Columbus members will attend.
