Myretta Jones had just begun kindergarten classes at Union Avenue School and lived in the Casa Loma district of Bakersfield. On the day of her death she walked to a nearby store on an errand for her mother. While at the store she was coaxed by another child to a nearby field where she was killed by the older child. Rev. B.C. Barrett officiated at the services. She was survived by her parents, a sister, five uncles and three aunts.
