TELL CITY, Ind. — Floyd Alvey Jr., 83, died October 15, 2010, at Oakwood Health Campus. He was a a self-employed carpenter and was known for his fine hand at finish work. Surviving are his wife, Imogene; daughter, Brenda Stofft; and a granddaughter, Danielle Nord. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Floyd Alvey, Jr., 83, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2010, at Oakwood Health Campus. He was born in Arrow Smith, Illinois on November 4, 1926. His parents were the late Floyd and Birdie (Louis) Alvey. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Evelyn Baur and a brother, Glenward Alvey. He married Imogene L. Lamar on October 23, 1954, in Owensboro, Kentucky. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, Floyd was a member of First Baptist Church in Tell City. He was a a self employed carpenter having built several homes in the Tell City area. He made furniture, too, and was especially known for his fine hand at finish work. Surviving: Wife – Imogene L. Alvey, Tell City, Daughter Brenda Stofft, Boonville, Granddaughter Danielle Nord. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Tell City with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Lee Brown will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday and from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church.
