DALRYMPLE, Fredrick Allen - 73, Nine Mile River, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2006, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, he was a son of the late Harold Dalrymple and Viola (Frink) Dalrymple. Fred continued to work in his field of civil design and at the time of his death was employed by AMEC Americas Ltd., Halifax. He also served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the fifties, which took him to the Arctic, Germany and across Canada. Fred was well-known for his genealogy research. He had extensive knowledge of birds, a love of the outdoors and was an avid gardener. Fred was saddened by the loss of his wife, Sandra in August 2004, and his daughter, Randi Lynn in 1974. He was also predeceased by Sandra's father, Charles; stepmother, Kath Fitzgerald, and brother, Geoffrey Fitzgerald (England). Surviving are his son, Rod (Kate) and grandson, Eddie, Calgary; daughter, Arlene (Glen) Boyd and grandchildren Stephanie and Brandon, Grand Prairie, Alta.; daughter, Lynn (David) Ford and grandchildren Matthew and Michael, Hammond Plains; daughter, Shelley Noonan and granddaughter Katherine, Kensington, P.E.I.; brother, Donald (Bea), Nine Mile River; sisters, Helen (Robert) Bell, Dartmouth; Marjorie (Lloyd) Matheson, Nine Mile River; mother-in-law, Norma Russell, Chester Basin; brothers-in-law, Allan and David Fitzgerald, England; Gary Russell, Chester Basin; sisters-in-law, Sasha Trueblood, Bermuda; Sylvia Dodge, New Ross; Cheryl (Bill) Morrow, Chester Basin, and Laureen Russell, Western Shore; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins in Nova Scotia, the United States and Mexico. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, in Ettinger Funeral Home Chapel, Shubenacadie, Pastor Ron Coole officiating. Reception to follow.
