Mary Lula Baumgardner, 91, of Fredericksburg, died on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at her residence.

She was born on July 24, 1919, in Haymakertown, Virginia, a daughter of the late Allie R. and Aphla Sprinkle Hogan. Her husband was the late Edward L. Baumgardner. She was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Wayne Baumgardner; two sisters, Edna Hodges and Pearl Alls; and a brother, Garland A. Hogan.

Mrs. Baumgardner is survived by a daughter, Mary Lee Elliott of Stafford, Virginia; a brother, Jerry Hogan of South Carolina; three sisters, Hazel Huffman of Roanoke, Betty Crawford of Goodwin, Virginia, and Frances Baumgardner of Gaithersburg, Maryland; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at the Bethlehem Methodist Church in Unionville, conducted by the Reverend Jeffrey Smith. Interment was held at Oakwood Cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at the Preddy Funeral Home, 250 West Main Street, Orange.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Bethlehem Methodist Church, P.O. Box 35, Unionville, VA 22567.
