Lorena P Gunn, of Owasco Road, Auburn, died in her sleep Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997. She had reveled in life for 86 years.

She was the fifth of six children born to the late B Frank Park and Grace Underwood Park of Cortland. She graduated from Cortland Normal School in 1933 and did her teaching in one room schools in the area. She would return to her alma mater to do graduate work in later years.

During her 50 some years in Auburn, she was very active in community work. To her beloved First United Methodist church, she became a Sunday School teacher, a board member, choir assistant, and a "you need it, I'll do it" loyal member. She was a den mother for cub Scouts, nursery school organizer, and in later years volunteered with the RSVP. She was past president of Melrose Senior Citizens, David Harem Button Club of Homer Society. She is probably best remembered for her most recent years of teaching at the Cayuga Elementary School where she was know by her peers as "an inspired educator."

Her husband, Carl, predeceased her in 1964.

She is survived by her son, Roger Gunn and his wife Georgena of Port Byron; a favorite sister-in-law, Bertha Park of Sempronius; a special brother-in-law, Donald Perrine of Middletown, IN; two very loved grandchildren, Gregory Gunn of Lexington KY and Kristen Gunn of Gatlinburg, TN; and many nieces and nephew, with whom she was very close.

Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 7 pm Friday at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn. Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, Dec 20 in the First United Methodist Church of Auburn, 99 South St., Auburn, with Rev. Everett Bassett, Officiating. Interment will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery, Cortland, NY.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the memorial fund of the First United Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Gunn.
