Ruby M. Courcier, age 91, of Stanton, Iowa formerly of the Grant area passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak. Ruby M. Courcier was born March 31, 1918 in Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Neal) Rupp. She attended high school at Villisca, Iowa and was united in marriage to Donald Norcross on December 26, 1934. They farmed in the Grant area and Donald preceded Ruby in death on January 25, 1951. Ruby was united in marriage to Everett Courcier on September 1, 1951 in Hiawatha, Kansas. They farmed near Grant and Morton's Mill until 1977 when they moved to Red Oak. In 1987 they moved to Grant and lived there until several years ago when they moved to Stanton, Iowa. Ruby was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Griswold, Iowa, was a member of the WW Club, the BL Club, and the Morton's Mill Ladies Aid. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, gardening, canning, ceramics and other crafts, playing cards, and she taught herself to play the organ.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband: Donald Norcross; infant: Donna; 9 siblings; 1 grandchild; and 1 great grandchild. Survivors include her husband: Everett Courcier of Stanton, Iowa; children: Gerald "Jerry" Norcross and wife Lin of Carmi, Illinois; Joyce Alexander and husband Bob of Omaha, Nebraska; and James Courcier and wife Connie of Osceola, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister: Doris DeWitt of Griswold, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Jerry Dietz officiating. There will be visitation with the family one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Cremation will take place after the services with burial of the ashes to be at a later date
