William L. "Bill" Davis, 83, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., a former resident of Elberta and a resident of W.F. Green State Veterans Home, Bay Minette, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a chemist at Pensacola Naval Air Station for 32 years. He was a former kennel owner in Elberta as he had a love for animals. He and his wife Virginia were involved with their community and especially helped with charity fund raisers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Davis. Survivors include friends, Peggy V. and Eddie Hesse of Foley; and all of his W.F. Green friends and staff. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla., with Chaplin Willie Smith officiating. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20 at the William F. Green State Veterans Home in Bay Minette. Memorial donations may be made to the William F. Green Veteran's Home, 300 Faulkner Drive, Bay Minette, AL 36507. Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Robertsdale.
