Charles Roney Allmond, 78, of Route One, Vidalia, died Sunday in Meadows memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. He was a native of Montgomery County, and spent his lifetime there. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. J.P. Quattlebaum officiating. Interment was in the E.F. Allmond Family Cemetery with Murchison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were; Quay Allmond, Edward Bailey, William Hamilton, E.R. Allmond, Jr., and Carlton Adams.
Survirors include his wife, Mrs. Lucinda Adams Allmond of Vidalia; five daughters, Mrs. Muriel Wikes, Mrs. Lucindy Hightower, Mrs. Patsy Campbell all of Tarrytown, Mrs. Dorothy Wilkes of Soperton, Mrs. Hazel Thigpen, Vidalia; tow sisters, Mrs. Ruby Gay and Mrs. J.B. Bailey, both of Vidalia; three brothers, Rodney Allmond, Vidalia, Carlton Jack Allmond, Swainsboro, and Teddy Allmond, Higgston; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
