Born in Meriden on Nov. 19, 1932, he was the son of the late Dominic and Katherine (Stella) Cessario, and had resided in Meriden his entire life. He graduated from St. Joseph Parochial School and Meriden High School, class of 1952.
Mr. Cessario was employed by the City of Meriden Police Department for over 22 years, retiring in 1979. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He was a peacetime veteran having served with the U.S. Navy.
Besides his wife of 50 years (June 18, 2010), he is survived by one daughter, Katiann Cessario, of Meriden; one granddaughter, Chelsea Rae Cessario, of Meriden; one sister, Rosemarie "Dolly" Hollman and her husband, Charlie, of Atlanta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers, Sam, Peter, Angelo, Joe, Michael and Frank; and three sisters, Mary, Shirley and Eleanor.
The funeral will be held on Monday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass.
