Mr. Burman John Dodd, 85, resident of Cross Creek, Florida, died Monday, October 18, 2010.
Mr. Dodd was a native of Tampa, Florida, son of the late Burman Sylvester and Ruby Ann McDeabit Dodd, and had resided in Cross Creek for most of his life. Mr. Dodd was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, having served during World War II. He had received his pilot's license, was a gunsmith and enjoyed working with model trains and had worked as a farmer. Mr. Dodd was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Arlene Fountain Dodd in 2001.
Survivors include; one daughter, Bonnie (Charles) Blackwell, of Windsor; four sons, John(Alice) Dodd, and Tim Dodd, both of Cross Creek, Dan (Maddy) Dodd, of Ft. Lauderdale, and Tommy Dodd, of Orange Springs; one sister, Ruby Park, of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 22, 2010, at 10:00 A. M. in the Orange Heights Baptist Church, with Pastor Lonnie Broome, officiating. Interment services with full military honors will follow at 2:30 P. M., in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
