Stephen Alston Jennings was a well-known architect in turn-of-the-century Illinois, particularly for his work in the architectural revival of Evanston, and later for his work in the Pacific Northwest in and near Seattle, Washington. They had only one child, Mary Gertrude Jennings. Lillian died at age 32 and Mary was raised by Lillian's parents.
