Wilbur Eugene Schrader, 90 of Rockville died at 8:55 pm. Tuesday, October 8, 2002, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.

He was a self-employed painter and carpenter. He was born April 16, 1912, in Leatherwood Station, Reserve Township, in Parke County, to Lawrence Homer Schrader and Onida (Mathas) Schrader. Attending Physician: Dr. M.F. Woodard

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Frances Kent Schrader, whom he married April 16, 1942, in Newport; one son, Gregg Schrader and his wife Debra of Fort Myers, Florida; two grandchildren, Aaron Schrader and his wife, Veronica of Carbon and Brett Haviland and her husband, JR of Rockville. He was preceded in death by one sister, Glethel Aikman.

He farmed in Parke County for many years and was Superintendent of Turkey Run State Park from 1950-1951, then spent 10 years with the Rockville Vault and Monument Company.

Before his retirement, he was Supervisor for the Child-Adult Resource Services for 10 years and was responsible for overseeing the remodeling of the center's facilities, as well as construction and demolition of many projects in the county.

He was a member of American Legion Fellenzer Post 48 in Rockville where he served as Chaplain, and he also attended the Nyesville EUB Church for many years.

He attended grade school in West Union and was a 1930 graduate of Montezuma High School.

He was an Army veteran of WWII stationed at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Graveside services are at 11 am. Monday in Memory Garden Cemetery, with the Rev. Brad Bumgardner officiating. The family suggests, that in lieu of flowers, a card would be appreciated, with a memorial contribution to the donor's favorite charity. Gooch Funeral Home at 112 Howard Av. assisted with arrangements.
