Jacob Eicher, 74, of 2509 Mahoning road, NE, died at his home Saturday morning after a lingering illness from a complication of disease. He has lived on farms near Canton for the past 42 years. He moved to Stark county in 1864. For 27 years he conducted a dairy on the Georgetown road near Canton. For the past 10 years he had been living in Canton.
Mr. Eicher was born in Berne, Switzerland, and came to America with his father at the age of 13. His father settled in Tuscarawas county.
Besides the widow he is survived by 10 children and 27 grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers also survive. His children are Mrs. Henry Frantz and Mrs. George Kaufman, of Cleveland; Mrs. Peter Gettle, of Canal Dover; Mrs. E. A. Moser, Mrs. Charles Myers, Mrs. Gerald L. Heibner and Mrs. John Tschantz, of Canton; Edward Eicher, of Georgetown road; Albert Eicher, of Canal Fulton, and John Eicher, of Canton. His sisters are Mrs. William Archinal, of Trenton, N.J.; Mrs. Gottlieb Rolli and Miss Emma Eicher, of Canton. The brothers surviving are Gottlieb Eicher, of Columbus, and John Eicher, of Canton.
The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon. Private services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock. Services will be conducted at the First Reformed church at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. T. P. Bollinger, pastor of the church, will officiate and will be assisted by Rev. A. W. Harris, pastor of the Crystal Park. M. E. church.
