Joseph William Mayo was born in Tioga, Grayson County, Texas April 15, 1895.He later changed his name to William Joseph Mayo due to the name mix up in the mail all the time with his dad J W Mayo "Joe" died August 29, 1983 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 88 years of age.

He was a truck driver in his early years , He drove for Miller and Miller Motor Freight Lines out of Wichita Falls Tx. His route was from Wichita Falls Texas to Ft Worth Texas, , He also worked in Cotton Gin's as a Ginner, He ran Cotton Compresses,and was a cowboy on ranch's in his early years just to name a few things.

His First wife was Mary Myrtle Hilliard, 22=Dec-1912 in Wilbarger co Texas she passed away may-29-1984, They divorced in 1929

His 3rd wife was Mary Maggaline Carter, they married in Petersburg Texas, she had two sons at the time of this marriage Lloyd Doyle Rascoe and Robert Michael Rascoe both were adopted by William Joseph Mayo and their names were changed to L D Mayo and Robert Michael Mayo, then they had a daughter: Wanda Joyce Mayo---
