Silver Star recepient for heroic action on 9 Aug 1944 near Pleurituit, France.
Staff Sergeant Webster, a member of I Company of the 121st Infantry Regiment,
single-handedly engaged an enemy reconnaissance vehicle that was armed with a 37mm gun. Sgt Webster, armed with a BAR, disabled the vehicle and forced
withdrawal of supporting enemy infantrymen. Ten prisoners were taken.
As of December 2023, an interesting series of YouTube videos was available,
"Hitler's Last Stand." Episode 5 (of 22), the first episode of the second season,
mentions Sgt Clyde Webster at approximately 25-27 minutes into the video.
