Mr. Shepherd died Oct. 8 at a local hospital. He was born in Knights Landing and lived 35 years in El Dorado county.
He was a retired machinist with Martell Lumber company.
Mr. Shepherd was a 49-year member of the Eagles lodge 889 F. O. E.
He is survived by his wife, Dewella Shepherd of Placerville, seven daughters: Mrs. L. D. Rohrer and Mrs. Noreen Plett, both of Placerville; Barbara Swatsenbarg of Tuolumna; Audrey Shepherd and Mardelle Smith, both of Alaska; Jo Ann Sindell of Foresthill and Junette Gaydon of Auburn; six sons, Joseph Shepherd, Jr. of Malaysia, Thomas Shepherd of Westpoint; Archie Shepherd and William Shepherd, both of Alaska; Marvin Shepherd of Placerville and Richard Shepherd of Foresthill; and 34 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shepherd were married March 29, 1917 in Roseville, California, and came to Placerville in 1924. Joseph worked for Western States Utility company and Pacific Gas and Electric company as a mechanic. He was retired for 14 years and his hobbies were hunting and fishing.
