Christophe and his wife Veronica were 1st buried in the cemetery at the Lime Kiln Schoolhouse in Lower Saucon Township, Hellertown, Northampton Co., Pennsylvania. They were later reburied in Saint Peters UCC Church Cemetery, now Plainfield Cemetery, Wind Gap, Northampton Co., Pennsylvania.

Johan Christophe Heller was born in Pfeddersheim, Rhein-Hesse, Germany in 1688, the son of Hans Jacob Heller and Anna Sarah Stricker. He married Veronica Lavall or Lawall on Feb. 18, 1716, in Germany.

Christopher, age 50, his wife, and his children left Rotterdam, Germanay on the ship "Winter Galley" and landed at Port Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 5, 1738. His family were with him, though only he and son Simon were of an age that required taking the oath of allegiance.

They had at least 6 children. The daughters all died young in Germany.
1. Catherina Wilhelmina, 1718-1720, born & died in Germany at age 2.
2. Simon, 1721-1785, married in 1715 to Louisa Dietz.
3. Michael, 1724-1803 (Elder Mike) married 1749 to Magdalena Catharina Keiper, (historical sources point to him as the real founder of Hellertown)
4. Daniel H., 1726-1803, married in 1750 to Anna Elisabeth Keiper.
5. Ludwig, 1728-1807, married 1st in April 1749, to Anna Margareth; she died May 18, 1775. He married 2nd in 1776 to Magdalena; she died about 1797.
6. Georg Christoph, 1732-1805, married in 1754 to Mary Elizabeth Keiper.
7. Maria Magdalena, 1734-1738, born and died in Germany at age 4.
8. Otillia, 1737-1738, born and died in Germany at age 6.
9. Johann Dieter, 1740-1818, married 1762 to Anna Barbara Knecht.

Christophe patented lands in Lower Saucon Township in an area, latter to be known as Hellertown in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Christophe and his sons established the town of Hellertown. Christopher lived with his son Daniel, who lived opposite Lower Saucon Church for the last years of his life.

There was a book about the Heller's written by Wm. J. Heller that is not accurate, and I (RJH) caution anyone who is doing Heller history / genealogy to not take what he has to say as the golden truth and nothing but the truth. Ex: Do not believe that the eldest son was named Joseph or John Dietrich. There are NO records of any son with either of those names found in the German birth records yet all the other children who were born over there can be found. There are NO records found of him in America and some children supposedly sired by him have been proven to be children of other Heller's. Christoph did have a son named Johan Dieter but he was born in 1740 and was the youngest of his sons. Wm. J. Heller was also cited as a knowledgeable source in some other histories (The History of Lehigh County is one) and his information needs to be sifted thru carefully. - RJH
