Pauline Margaret Whitekettle, 98, of Newport, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010, at her home.
Born February 7, 1912, in Newport, she was daughter of the late Charles S. and Margaret (Loy) Whitekettle.
Pauline was a 1930 graduate of Newport High School and a graduate of Beaver College in Glenside, Pa, and Shippensburg University. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Newport where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Ms. Whitekettle was a 2nd grade teacher for the Newport School District for 40 years before her retirement in 1975. She was Perry County Director for the American Cancer Society from 1955-1975. Pauline was a member Delta Kappa Gamma Society; the Perry County Retired Teacher's Association; the Newport Civic Club; and the Perry County Historical Society. Following her retirement, she also enjoyed worldwide travel.
Private services will be held. Interment will be in Newport Cemetery.
