In 1914, Maude married Cyrus Truman Allen, a travelling salesmen 20 years her elder and a widower with 3 grown sons. They had three children, Grace, Albert, and Ellsworth Lee. Ellsworth had Downs Syndrome and spent most of his life in an institution.
Maude's mother dies in 1929, and Cyrus in 1930 (he is buried in Minnesota with his 1st wife).
Maude was a talented artist, and covered some of the walls in her home with large murals. She pinned lavender to her curtains to scent the home. Maude is buried with Alva and his parents, in Wyuka Cemetery, Sec 2, Lot 5153.
