Robert John Martz Sr., 67, of Adrian, died suddenly Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at his residence. He was born June 23, 1943, in Hawthorn, the son of the late Bertha (Keller) and Malvin J. Martz. He served his country in the Army and worked at Eljer in Ford City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading books and his two dogs, Tyke and Tina. He is survived by one son, Robert John Martz Jr., of Adrian; one daughter, Christine Martz, of Cadogan; two grandchildren, Amanda Smith and Eric Cunningham; one great-granddaughter, Madysen Smith; three brothers, Raymond and Doris Martz, of Hawthorn, Morris and Karen Martz, of Kittanning, and Kathy Martz, of Garretts Run; three sisters, Joanne and Ronald Crytzer, of Smicksburg, Barbara Martz, of Adrian, and Kathleen Kirkpatrick, of Dayton; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Martz, Franklin Martz, William Martz and Melvin "Mike" Martz; two sisters, Betty Martz and Geraldine Silverman; and one nephew, Kevin Martz. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the ALCORN FUNERAL HOME in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor John Phillips, of First Church of God in New Bethlehem, officiating. Interment will be in the Coolspring Cemetery, Oliver Township, Jefferson County.
