James "Eddie" Mooney, 51, of Ashford went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 5, 2010, after a mining accident at Performance Coal Company, Montcoal, on that same day.

Eddie was a loving husband, dad and brother. He was a member of Rumble Community Baptist Church. Eddie loved life and he loved to make people laugh. He had been in the mining industry for over 20 years. He was a hard worker and he always put his family first. He enjoyed taking his son hunting and fishing. He also liked camping and four-wheeling. On the weekends he loved to take his 1978 Corvette out for a cruise.

Eddie was born on December 19, 1958, and was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Mooney; and father-in-law, Austin Kirk.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sheila Mooney; daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Eric Case of Palm Coast, Florida; 14-year-old son, Austin Mooney; mother-in-law, Jean Kirk of Ashford; six brothers and sisters and their spouses, Butch and Peggy Mooney of Peytona, Chuck and Sharon Mooney of Drawdy, Patty "Sissy" and Wendy Woodrum of Cleveland, Ohio, Punk and Karen Mooney of Drawdy, Agnes Love of Ohio and Ginny and Michael Graley of Whiteoak; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Roger Barker of Costa.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 16, at Rumble Community Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Harold officiating. Burial will follow in Holstein Cemetery, Dartmont.

Family and friends will gather from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rumble Community Baptist Church.

Though your smile is gone forever, and your hand I cannot touch, I still have many memories of the one I love so much. Your memory is my keepsake, with which I'll never part. God has you in His keeping; I have you in my heart.

Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of the service.
