Joseph Sharkey, 84, Monticello, Dies Thursday
Joseph Sharkey, 84, of Monticelloo, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in Turtle Creek nursing home, Monticello. He had been ill eight months.
Born January 4, 1890 in White county, he was married to Alida Laymon June 22, 1911. Mrs. Sharkey died in 1969. He was a member of the Remington United Methodist church and was a 50-year member of the Remington Knights of Pythisas lodge.
Survivors include a son, Jack M. Sharkey of Indianapolis, three grandchildren, one brother, Louis Napoleon Sharkey of Remington and a sister, Mrs. Ella Baxter of Remington, presently a patient of Rensselaer Care Center.
Friends may call at Stitz funeral home, Remington, Friday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, with Rev. Richard K. Fox officiating. Burial will be in Remington cemetery.
