Rebecca Atkins, 7-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brice Atkins, Wilson Street, was almost instantly killed today when struck by an automobile driven by Mrs. O. B. Hensley, Starling Avenue.

The accident occurred near the corner of Starling Avenue and Wilson street, apparently as the little girl was on her way home from school. She was in the second grade at Joseph Martin.

Mrs. Hensley rushed the child to Shackelford hospital, but she died an hour after being admitted there. The little girl darted into the street from off the cub suddenly into the side of Mrs. Hensley's car, and her head was struck by the handle on the right side of the machine.

Mr. Atkins, father of the victim, is an employee of the Church Street grocery. Besides Rebecca, Mr. and Mrs. Atkins are the parents of one other child, an 8 months old baby.
