Anchorage resident Carol Elizabeth Moon, 87, died Oct. 8, 2010, at St. Joseph's Memorial Hospital in Eureka, Calif.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Anchorage Church of Christ, 2700 DeBarr Road. A private burial for family and friends will be held at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.

Born Feb. 26, 1923, to John and Edith Tuttle in Bemidji, Minn., Carol was the ninth of 13 children; siblings were George, Melvin, Lyle, Roy, Clarice, Harold, Stanley, Lesley, Robert, John, Dorothy and Richard.

Carol graduated from high school in Geddes, S.D.. She moved to Abilene, Texas, to attend nursing school and worked as a nurse for 17 years. She married Bob Harris and had two daughters, Sue and Sherry, in Texas before moving to Colorado in 1954.

Carol married Talley Moon in Denver, Colo., on March 17, 1961. Their son, Mark, was born in 1963.

The family moved to Alaska in 1974 for greener pastures and made it their permanent home.

Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to all. She enjoyed being a nurse and was the ultimate pie baker, cook, seamstress and Scrabble and pinochle player. She was dedicated to her congregation at Anchorage Church of Christ.

Carol is survived by her brother, John and his wife Mary Ellen; sister, Dorothy Reynolds; sisters-in-law, Jackie Tuttle and Twila Tuttle; daughter, Sue Natzler and her husband Walter; daughter, Sherry Adams; son, Mark Moon and his wife Clarissa; grandchildren, Eric Bergel and his wife Kim, Justin Harris and his wife Shannon, London Harris, Brandon Harris, Jessica Ridgway, Devon Hewlett and Rachel Hickman; great-grandchildren, Evyn and Christian Harris, Nicole, Madison and Aaliyah Harris, Reesa and Asher Bergel; and special friends, Terry and Pattie Parks.
