About 1864, Waller married Nellie Jane Scobee, born in Kentucky (1842-1931). Nellie was the youngest daughter of William Scobee (1802-1890), and Nellie Jane Burroughs (1802-1875), both born in Kentucky.
Waller and Nellie Jane settled into a life of farming in Kiddville, Clark County, Kentucky. They had four children, three sons and one daughter:
Elizabeth Davenport Huls-Judy (1865-1917),
William C. Huls (1868-1929),
Charles Davenport Huls (1870-1951), and
Robert A. Huls (1873-1965).
Waller died on Jul 6, 1898. Nellie Jane remained in Clark County, Kentucky until she died in 1931. Nellie and Walter are both buried in Machpelah Cemetery.
