Grant E. Gutzmer Specialist Grant E. Gutzmer was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 2, 1975. He enlisted in the United States Army on February 21, 2001. Upon completion of Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training for MLRS Crewmember (13M10), he was assigned to Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 38th Field Artillery, Camp Stanley, Republic of South Korea. Upon completion of his overseas tour he was reassigned to Charlie Battery, 2d Battalion, 4th Field Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; on October 16, 2002. While assigned to the "Deep Attack" Battalion he deployed in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 21 to June 15, 2003. He has served as a Multiple Launch Rocket Systems driver, gunner, and ammunition specialist. His awards include The Army Commendation Medal, The Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Driver's Badge. Survivors include his parents, Cathy and Tony Anderson; father, Kevin Gutzmer; sisters, Amy and Emily Anderson; grandparents, Richard and Faith Landis, and Joan Beamon; aunts and uncles, Vicky and Mark Bock, Rick and Tammy Landis, and Susan and Joe Krause. Services will be at 11 am Tuesday, April 13 at the Washington Park East Community Life Center. Calling will be from 4 to 9 pm on Monday, April 12 at the Community Life Center.
