Beloved son of William Hinton and Mary R.(nee ARMSTRONG)Hinton of Bathurst New Brunswick Canada.

"William and Mary Hinton were married in New Brunswick Canada and migrated to Alger County Michigan IN 1895.

Around the year 1908 the entire Hinton family made the long arduous journey west to the fine state of Washington. The father William entered coal claims and secured patents to his land, which contains 640 acres of hard coal. Working with Judge Emory, William Polsen ,and Angus Oliver he organized the Glacier Coal Company and remained the head of the board until his death in June of 1924.

George Washington Armstrong Hinton worked for a time in the coal mine at Glacier, and saving his money he and wife Elva purchased ranch near town, with a complete dairy. In 1920 he purchased the Glacier Waterworks plant, which supplied the town with water .
On April 14, 1925 he and his wife Elva had the Regrand opening of the general store. Named D.A.GRIFFEN & Company selling the latest in mercantile and also added an addition of a bakery to the back of the store.This is also where Elva became WELL KNOWN for her Water color, pen & ink, and oil paintings of floral and fawna . These drawings/paintings are highly sought after,
and some are still in the family today.

He also owns 80 acres of valuable coal land with access to one mile of railroad trackage.
Serving as township clerk for two years, then as township supervisor, for five years,for seven years hence he has served the fine town of Glacier as treasurer of the township .
On July 27,1904 George Washington Armstrong Hinton and Elva A. Sisson, daughter of Gilbert Sisson and Clarinda nee Perry ,Sisson were united in the bands of Holy Matrimony in the town of Munising, county of Alger Michigan. Elva had previously been employed as a school teacher in Michigan learning from the tootaledge of her famous father Gilbert.
In 1921 they adopted a beautiful daughter Eleanor.

Sadly circa in 1931 George and Elva divorced. With Eleanor still living with her mother in the family home in Bellingham WA.


George W.A. Hinton then married Mrs.Nellie Komen nee (unknown )in 1934 Maple Falls Twp. Whatcom county, and to this union they had one known son ;
ROBERT L.HINTON born June 17, 1933 SERVED IN THE Korean War
