Kathleen H. Scott Cardwell

MONTCALM - Kathleen H. Scott Cardwell, 82, of P.O. Box 107, Montcalm, died on Sunday, April 25, 2004 in a Bluefield hospital.

Born on Sept. 13, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Juanita Calhoun Scott. She was a 59-year member of the Montcalm Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was involved with the Women's Ministries of the Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 9696. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Clyde O. Cardwell and two daughters, Bonnie Cardwell and Kathy D. Tolliver preceded her in death.

Survivors: Daughters: Alta Bright and husband Charles of Winston-Salem, N.C., Kim Cardwell of Montcalm; son: Ronnie Cardwell of Mocksville, N.C.; brothers: Sylvester Scott of Florida, Randolph Scott of South Carolina; sisters: Helen Lutes of Texas, Pauline Beckner of Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. R.C. Turner and the Rev. Allen Hawley officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell. Mac McBride, Chris Stewart, Billy Tolliver, Ryan Murphy, James Turner, and Calvin Shoemaker will be serving as pallbearers.
