Doris Janelle Barecky 75, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 23, 2010. She was born October 27, 1934 in Sinton, Texas to Hobert and Irma Atkins. Doris was a lifelong resident of Taft, she worked 30 plus years for the U.S. Government and was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Taft, Texas. She was the anchor of her neighborhood and was known as 'Mema' to many.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Allene Farley. She is survived by her son Jon (Ivette) Barecky of Shiner, Texas; daughter Jan (Jaime) Zellow of Grove, Oklahoma; niece Becky (Dan) Sparkman and children, Milton and Dan Clifton of Decatur, Texas; nephew Wyatt (Crystal) Farley and children, Melissa and Justin of George West, Texas; four grandchildren, Jonathon Paul (Amanda) Havelka, Sarah Barecky, Julia Barecky and Chris (Jeremi) Zellow; three great grandchildren, Joseph Havelka, Jonathon Patrick Havelka and Adelynn Zellow; best friend of 70 years, Roylene Hunt of Taft, Texas; extended family includes, Jake and Cari Krumnow and children, Kala and Carly of Portland, Texas; and her beloved dog Pookie and cat Lucky.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Taft, Texas. Interment to follow in Taft Cemetery
