Susanna (Robinson) Boggess was the daughter of Major Benjamin Robinson (1758-1832) and Mary Margaret (Asson) Wilkinson (1757-1823). She was born on September 17, 1795, in Lumberport, Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia).

Major Robinson was a veteran of the Revolutionary War who was granted 400 acres of land in Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia) in 1775. A prominent citizen, he served as Justice of the Peace and Sheriff of Harrison County, took part in many local Indian raids, and owned the first grist mill and the first saw mill in the local area. Susanna's mother, born Mary Asson, had been previously married to John Wilkinson before she married Robinson in 1785. Susanna was the 9th of the eleven children of Benjamin Robinson.

Susanna married Albertus Boggess, a farmer who owned property in Harrison County, on 14 October 1813.

Susanna died three months prior to her brother-in-law, John Boggess, older brother of her husband who had married her oldest sister Magdalene, who gave birth to a daughter 20 Aug 1814 named Mary Magdalene Larson and who, with her mother, apparently died. It just may be that Susanna named her daughter born earlier, 1 August 1814, in memory of her sister and niece.
