Ira Melvin Higginbotham

Mr. Ira Melvin Higginbotham, 76, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 at the Hospice at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He was born Dec. 20, 1923 in Jack County, Texas to parents: Ira Walker Higginbotham and Elizabeth Snider Higginbotham. He served under General Patton in the United States Army during World War II.

Ira was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and was a W.O.W. sales representative and vice president of the W.O.W. Lodge.

His wife of 53 years, Mildred A. Higginbotham of Rosenberg, survives him along with one son, David Higginbotham and his wife, Cindy, of Sugar Land, Texas, daughters: Linda Drapp and her husband, Don, of Sugar Land, Texas and Sharon Cain and her husband, Bruce, of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a beloved pet, Buffie, a sister, Rose Whitten of Carrollton, Texas; a brother, Ade Higginbotham of Yukon, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pall bearers will be Brantly Drapp, John Higginbotham, Shawn Higginbotham, Stacey Conaway, Mills Tourtellotte and Jack Crout.
