Chico Enterprise-Record, Tuesday, September 8, 1981: "Rita Behring Liston. Memorial services were held Monday at the Chico Funeral Home for Rita Behring Liston, 76, of Chico who died Saturday at a local hospital.
"Mrs. Liston was born in Dayton, Wash. March 25, 1905, and as a young adult enrolled in St. Francis Nursing School in San Francisco. She met and married her first husband, Dr. Herbert Behring there. Dr. Behring died in 1951. Mrs. Liston later married Emory Liston who died in 1976.
"She was a member of the Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian Church, Chico Temple and the American Legion Auxiliary.
"Survivors include her son, Dr. Herbert Behring; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Montgomery; a stepson, Duncan Liston, all of Chico; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
"The Rev. Lynn Boliek of Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian Church officiated at the service. Contributions may be given to Enloe Memorial Hospital in care of the Chico Funeral Home."
