Clyde Deaton, 87, of North Vernon, formerly of Seymour, IN, passed away at 1:28 PM, Friday, October 22, at Covered Bridge Health Campus.
Clyde was born in Crockettsville, KY on January 23, 1923, the son of Dan and Dora (Ingram) Deaton.
On November 23, 1946, he married Katherine McNear, and she preceded him in death.
Clyde was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Seymour. He retired from Teamster Construction in California. He served in the US Army in the 7th Division under Gen. Patton during WWII from January 16, 1943 until April 17,1946.
Clyde is survived by two daughters, Jennifer L. Morris and Tammy Davis, grandchildren, Michael P. Davis,Michael A. Davis, Andrea N. Davis, Jonathan P. Morris and Rachel D. Morris. He is also survived by three brothers, Raymond Deaton, Willie Deaton,and Reynolds Deaton, two sisters, Theda Sexton and Bonnie Storen and two sons in law, Peter Morris and Ron Blyseth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughters, Dianne Deaton Holloway and Bonnie Blyseth; brothers, Mac Deaton, Fletch Deaton, Bradley Deaton; and sister, Bertha Lyle.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. David Schrock, Rev. Jon Pearce, and Rev. Jim Downey officiating.
Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Friends may call from 4:00PM until 8:00PM, Monday, October 25 at Voss Chapel and 10:00 AM Tuesday until time of service.
