James Douglas McInnis, 75, of Green Cove Springs, passed away on October 23, 2010 at the Lake City VA Medical Center, Lake City. James was born on August 27, 1935 in Midland, Michigan to the late James and Bernice (Beem) McInnis. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Tank Mechanic. James worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Pilot Equipment for 17 years, and retired from Steve Thompson Equipment. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

James is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice M. McInnis of Green Cove Springs. Additional survivors include his daughter, Lori Morey of Charlevoix, MI; his son, William McInnis and his wife Brenda of Midland, MI; his daughter, Rebecca Stillwagon and her husband Jerome of Rio Rancho, NM; his son, Barry Sweetman and his wife Lillie of Twin Falls, Idaho; his son, Max Sweetman of Green Cove Springs; his brother; Daniel L. McInnis and his wife Diane of Starke, FL; his sister, Charlotte McInnis of Mandarin; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his son, Ron Sweetman, his brother, Robert McInnis, and his sister Phyllis Leck.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 28, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, October 29 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in memory of James to the Lake City VA Medical Center, Serenity Place Hospice, 619 S. Marion Ave, Lake City, FL 32025. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL.
