Mr. DeRoboam died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.
He was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Lodi, Calif., the son of John and Catherine (Burbac) DeRoboam. He married Frances Miller Spangler Dec. 31, 1988, in Davenport.
He was in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring as sergeant in 1975. He served in Vietnam and Germany and earned several service medals. Following his retirement, he farmed in Karlstad, Minn., and worked for the City of Karlstad.
He was a member of American Legion Post 315, Lake Bronson, and previously had been active in various veterans organizations, including the Quad Cities Veterans Center. He enjoyed helping other people, loved story telling and played Santa for several years in Karlstad.
Al is survived by his wife, Frances, Taylor Ridge; a daughter and her husband, Loni Gibbons and Norm Snell, Montgomery, Texas; a brother, Earl DeRoboam, Ogden, Utah; and several nieces and a nephew.
