George was the son of John and Mary Vandemant Schick. John, was born in Pennsylvania in 1782 and died in Lawrence county after 1850.Siblings are John Vandemant, Peter, Daniel (a minister), Martin, Abram, Sadie and Lizzie. He was married to Dulcema Evaline Penny in Brown county, Ohio July 16, 1843. They had eleven children: Louisa Angeline, Melissa D., Robert Thornton, George J., Chambers Hanna, Sanford, Albert Clayton, Matilda J., Andrew Jackson, Mary Ellen and Charles Edgar Schick. George was buried in the Penny cemetery with four of his children.
