Charles Robert Davidson passed away on October 29, 2010 in Columbus, Texas. He was born July 15, 1927, in Port Arthur, Texas, the third child of Robbie Mae Whitaker and Eric Magrill Davidson. He grew up in Grapeland, Texas, where he worked on the family peanut farm. As a young man, he learned carpentry and cabinet making, skills at which he excelled.

Charles and Mamie Lee Smith (d 1992) were married on November 1, 1947, in Houston, Texas. Today would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary. Charles was raised as a Baptist and become a member of Weimer United Church of Christ on July 14, 1988.

He served in the US Coast Guard in WWII from 1945 – 46. His company readied the USS Breckenridge for the Navy during his time of service. He sailed to the Philippines and crossed the Internationals Date Line on the USS Escanaba.

Charles loved his family and friends very much. He also loved the many dogs he had during is life, especially his faithful dog, Maddie.

Charles was preceded in death by is parents; his wives, Mamie Lee Davidson and Mary Louise Duke Day Davidson; his brother, Wade Donald Davidson and daughter, Barbara Sudbury.

He is survived by his daughters, Deena Richter and husband Hugo, Desiree Hazelwood, Marie Day and Nina Day. Grandchildren, Angelia Wied (Carl), Vickie Richter, Amanda Hazelwood, Amy Bedolla (Miguel); sister, Norma Bertram , sister-in-law, Irene Davidson, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
