Jackie Riley, 78, of North Vernon, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Kindred Hospital South in Indianapolis.

She was born Aug. 7, 1932 in Craft Colley, Ky., the daughter of Elihue and Betty E. Sergent Stallard. In her younger years she lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked and retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, where she worked in dietary. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Jennings Hospital and Versailles Nursing Home. She was a member of the Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Church in Kurtz and the Muscatatuck Wildlife Refuge Society. She enjoyed flowers, wildlife, cooking, bird watching and going to Brown County State Park.

She is survived by three daughters, Theresa Gabaree of Salem, Valera Schafer of Madison and Peggy Wilson of North Vernon; one son, Jeffrey Riley of Scipio; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Riley, whom she married Aug. 7, 1947, and who died Sept. 2, 2008; one daughter, Kathie Murrell; her parents; and seven siblings, Pearlie Craft, Limbille Stallard, Margie Blair, James Stallard, Iba Lee Lanham, Andrew Stallard and Goldie Stallard.

The funeral was at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon. Burial was in Valley Home Cemetery in Kurtz.
