Malachi/Malachy James CASHEN

Corporal Malachi Cashen was stationed with the U. S. Army Air Corps 15th Pursuit Group, 72nd Pursuit Squadron at Wheeler Air Field near Pearl Harbor when Japanese planes strafed/bombed the field. He was assigned to the field's supply office and died of gunshot wounds.

At enlistment 03DEC1940, he was a resident of Outagamie County, WI where he had worked in retail sales.

He spent some years in Waterloo, Iowa residing in the home of an uncle, John Fitzsimmons and attended St. Mary's School.

Surviving in addition to parents of Lamont, IA, are four sisters, Mrs. Raymond Kortemkamp, Lamont, Sister Mary (Bernadine) Malachi, Holy Grove School, Dubuque, Mrs. Mitchell Coke, West Union, and Mrs. Wiley, and five brothers, John Cashen, Maynard, Richard J, Bernard J, and Francis all of Lamont and Ralph of Aurora (Ia).
