EUGENE HARVEY SLEDGE (Gene) passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010, surrounded by his family.

He was born on October 16, 1927 in Waller, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lilly A. Thompson and father, Eugene William Sledge.

Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marie Sledge (Peanut), son, Fred Sledge and wife, Wanda, daughter, Debbie Williams and husband, Randy, four granddaughters and their husbands, Candy McVaney (Buck), Valerie Severa (Steve), Kristi Noble (Brent), Heather McCusker (Marc) and eight great-grandchildren.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family.

He served in the U.S. Marine's during World War II. He was a loyal union member and took pride in helping his fellow workers. He served as the Business Manager of IBEW Local Union 66 until his retirement in 1987.

Visitation was held at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Road, Houston, Texas 77065 from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 28th.

Funeral Services on Friday, October 29th at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Cedar Creek Cemetery north of Hempstead, Texas.
