Ethel was the 6th of 12 children of Robert and Mary Alice Southard. She and her first husband, Fay Beem, were animal bounty hunters back in the 30's and Ethel was a crack shot!!! She lived most of her life not more than a few miles of her birthplace on the Klamath River in her beloved Siskiyou Mountains, in northern California. She was a gold miner and always seemed to know right where the beautiful yellow nuggets were!!!! Ethel was a true mountain lady and lived her life as such. Tough as nails but with a tender heart as big as the universe!!! When she died in 1988 she was still lighting her home with kerosene lamps!!! She was my Great Aunt and I miss her very much! -- bio by Judy Hart
