He was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Eagle Lake Township of rural Battle Lake, the son of Franz August and Tillie (Rosenquist) Okeson. He was baptized and confirmed at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, and attended school at District 72 in Eagle Lake Township.
He lived in the Battle Lake area until 1964, first farming his home farm, then working in construction, building a few houses in Fergus Falls. Mr. Okeson moved to Stockton in 1964. There he was self-employed in house painting and wallpapering.
On July 4, 1988, he married Irene Murphy in Tupelo, Miss. They lived in Stockton, where she died on October 15, 1991. Mr. Okeson retired in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; one sister, Eunice Lillevold; and one brother, Ferris Okeson.
He is survived by his sister Pearl Goosen of Crookston; four nieces; and two nephews.
There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Thursday in Stockton. The Frisbie/Warren and Carroll Mortuary of Stockton is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in the Stockton Rural Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Eagle Lake Cemetery Association.
