ASHTABULA — Violet Irene Blanton, age 57, of Cornell Ave., died unexpectedly Saturday, July 12, 2008, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
She was born Dec. 9, 1950, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Ernest and Myrtle (McKinley) McCabe and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
An Elvis fanatic, she also enjoyed bingo, shopping, spending time on the computer and being with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Blanton, whom she married on Oct. 9, 1980; four children, Julie Ann (Eric Massena) McCabe, William Richard McCabe and twins, Larry D. Blanton Jr. and Katherine R. Blanton, all of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, Ashley, Thomas Nathan, Antonio, Erica and Brittney; four sisters, Betty Stanley of West Virginia, Barbara Ford and Joyce Manning, both of Ashtabula, and Marcella Leslie of Florida.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Chevelle Michael McCabe in infancy; her brother, Ernest "Buddy" McCabe; and her parents.
A Service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. Kenneth Roberts and Pastor David Adams will CO-officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, N. Kingsville.
Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16th, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 17th, at the Funeral Home.
