BUZZARDS BAY - Irene C. (Eldredge) Hill of Buzzards Bay died on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the age of 98.
She was the mother of Joan M. Hill, Jean A. Scully and her husband, Lawrence, all of Buzzards Bay, and the late Edgar Eldredge, and the grandmother of Robin Perry, William Scully, Deborah Bright and Edgar Eldredge Jr. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren: Tiffany Scully, Shawn Bright, Ryan and Christopher Perry and Edgar III, Arthur and Armond Eldredge; one great-great-grandchild, Nova Cerulo; a nephew, Fred LaChapelle and nieces, Ella Brennen, Doloris Harlow, Betsy Tracy and Mary Marquis.
Besides her son, she was preceded in death by her parents, William B. and Ella E. (Besse) Eldredge; her former husband, Leon Hill, and her two sisters, Phoebe Long Eldredge, her husband was Frederick William LaChapelle and Celine Eldredge.
Before her retirement, she worked for the H.L. Bouton Company for 52 years.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-6pm on Sunday, October 24 in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. in Bourne. Funeral services in the funeral home will begin at 11am on Monday with burial following in Oakland Grove Cemetery.
